Warning - Not Knowing This, When Choosing the Best Buy From LCD Or HDTV Plasma TVs Can Be Hazardous

Knowing HDTV terms that is entangled with terms such as CRT, LCD, Plasma, flat-panel, front or rear projection, to name but a few, can be a shock when you realize that you have to know some of what I am about to tell you.

CRT stands for Cathode Ray Tube and it is one of the oldest types of television. Other then being very heavy it has been a long lasting product. CTR TV was good while it lasted.

Since the television technology has changed to follow the higher definition success of the computer monitor, people has become accustomed to the better quality picture and sound that the later models differentiate from the older types of televisions.

To make it easy to understand we can say that this technological advancement can be categorized in 3 major developments. LCD, Plasma and then HDTV. What makes it difficult for many people that set out to buy a tv, is to understand all these terms. What makes it even more difficult is the fact that you now get LCD HDTV and Plasma HDTV.

Since you may want to buy one of the latest HDTV Plasma TVs and it may not be falling into the price range to fit your budget, I suggest you to educate yourself a bit towards the television technology and what you may get when you buy a cheaper tv of the shelf without getting to know the facts first.

The television that the most people currently have in their homes are the CRT we have looked at earlier. Since the quality of the tv’s display now on average is about 3 times of what you are most likely looking at on your television, you may want to upgrade and buy a plasma HDTV.

What makes the picture of a HDtv Plasma tv a better quality than the older Cathode Ray Tube television? Other than developments that changed the way television screens handle the display, making the newer screens show smoother than their predecessors, they also increased definition.

An increase in definition is just showing more detail of the picture. The definition of the display is shown as the amount of pixels that lights up with different colors, making the picture appear real. More pixels cramped into a picture make the detail higher and hence the picture sharper.

But does it really matter if there are a significant difference in quality and sharpness? Watching a football game shown on two different types of television will make this clear. On the HDTV Plasma or LCD tv you will see things you will miss out on the older models. Yes, really!

Unless you specifically look for it you may see more detail looking at the closer objects without realizing why the picture is nicer to look at. But it is by looking at further objects, especially then when you realize what you are missing out on the standard quality tv.

If you are not sure whether to go for a HDtv LCD screen or to buy a HDTV Plasma tv, consider this 2 reasons why I prefer to to buy the LCD HDtv but would rather opt for the HDTV Plasma tv:

HDTV LCD may sometimes display a ghost effect and to make sure you are not displeased with your LCD HDTV purchase either watch it next to an HDTV Plasma screen or check the screens frequency against other more expensive models in the range of LCD tvs.

LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display. Since your TV will probably get dust and finger marks on it, you may now take note of the limitations that there are when you are going to consider cleaning your HD TV. Although newer LCD models may improve Plasma television screens are usually more user friendly when it comes to keeping them clean.

TIPS ON HOW TO BUY A HDTV: Gert Hough warns people not to just go out and buy the latest HDtv that they can afford without knowing more about high definition televisions. It takes only 2 minutes to understand the difference between HDTV Plasma TVs and HDTV LCD TVs.

HDTV 3 Ways - Convert LCD Or Plasma to HDTV

Actually, You CAN get a Converter box and just convert Your OLD CRT TV… And Get Hi Definition pictures on it!

But there are only Standard Definition Digital Converter Box coupons available.

This Is Because The Government Is Offering 2 Coupons Per Household, worth $40 Each.

This is enough at this time to buy a Quality Standard Definition box…But A High Definition Box Requires A Bit More Cash…

And a Common Response Is..

Aren’t digital converters the same as HDTV converters?

No.

Remember, there is a difference in price between SDTV and HDTV Digital Converters.

Standard Definition Digital Converter Boxes: Display Standard Definition Programs Only…

High Definition (HDTV) Digital Converter Boxes: Display Both Standard Definition, and High Definition.

If you get your hdtv converter rebate, You can buy a Standard Digital Converter Box, because they are cheap at this time.

Many Standard Digital Converter boxes are the same price as two $40 coupons, which you will be eligible for.

…Therefore:

You will need to weigh up the difference in price and functions, if you want to view High Definition.

It’s definitely worth the extra cost because many Free To Air Networks and or Stations are Transmitting Different Programs on these HD channels!

Also you will not see High Definition Channels on a Standard box.

The NTIA has issued about 20 million coupons so far.

However, the coupons have a 90-day expiration, and of those that have passed that date, less than half have been redeemed.

So, you need to be quick…

According to a press release from Zenith, the company has shipped more than a million converters, and about 6 million units of all brands have been bought using the rebate coupons.Estimates for the number of US households with TVs and no cable or satellite subscriptions are as high as 20 million.

And if you consider the fact that many homes with cable or satellite also have an “extra” TV somewhere that is not connected, and so depends on a broadcast signal, the total number of households could be even higher.

So with less than 200 days to go until the digital TV transition on FEB 17, 2009!!

It appears that fewer than a third of those who will need a converter box have used a coupon to buy one.

If you get a HDTV converter box, you WILL get HDTV.

ONLY If you also have a High Definition TV set.

So Why haven’t HDTV buyers been told these facts? Much More Here: http://www.hdtvinfofaq.com

Plasma Television

For years, television has evolved and changed to different sizes, features and qualities. The process of technology is unending. Technology has been integrated to many things and the most visual example of that technology integration is on televisions.

Television or what they call “boob tube” evolved in the early 1930’s. There has been a lot of development as the years passed. Currently the most talked about when it comes to televisions are the so called “Plasma TV”.

Now, what exactly is a Plasma TV? Maybe some of you would just say that it is a wide slim TV that you can hang around in your room where you want it or when you want it. Now, the bottom line is this, Plasma TV is not just your ordinary TV. The display that you will actually see is made up of thousand cells. These cells are glass compartments infused with a certain gas called “neon-xenon gas”. This gas is now plasma suspended.

So what now is plasma? Plasma is a matter that contains number of particles that are electrically charged. When the neon -xenon gases are then electrically charged, it will give phosphors of different colors, such as red, blue and green. These colored elements are the pixels that are contained in the Plasma TV.

Now what are the Plasma TV advantages?

It’s very easy to watch. A Plasma TV works well under any light conditions. Even the brightest of the lights can’t wash out the pictures. Your Plasma TV screen will not be affected by the glares of backlight unlike the ordinary TVs that you have to set it in such a place where you can see it easily and clearly. Plus it is such a cool TV, very sleek and stylish.

It is wide; the picture is very colorful and smooth. Maybe you actually notice in the ordinary televisions that sometimes there are annoying lines running through the display. In Plasma TV’s you will not encounter such things because they are made up of pixels, making a more colorful and smooth images. Truly a Plasma TV gives a superb resolution, an exceptional color that sets it apart from other televisions.

Plasma TV is multi functional. The plasma display could either be a home television monitor, regular TV, an HDTV capable and even a home video. Also you can use it as your computer monitor. Video formats can be accepted by Plasma TV. Different inputs are included in Plasma displays such as video, component video and one to two RGB inputs right from your computer. The average life span of a Plasma TV is for about three and half years even if you watch and use it 24/7.

A different technology was used in the Plasma TVs. Most TVs suffer distortions brought about by some magnetic fields. Plasma TVs are not affected by this even if you put it near the speakers.

Plasma TV design is very unique, it is slim and has a very light weight. Some of the Plasma TVs are just 6 inches thick, surprisingly incredible. Also it is very light, some of them only weigh 50 pounds. This makes it easier to move it around your house wherever you want it. It is very space saving. The unique design really catches attention, because it is very elegant, you would really like to buy your own.

This is the Plasma TV and its characteristics. Who would not like to buy his own? Elegant, space saving, and multi functional, just to name a few. Truly, Plasma TV really delivers. Enjoy real time entertainment with this unique TV. Watching TV will never be the same again. Plasma TV, a wonderful work of technology.

Your Electronic Store HDTV Television Buying Guide

Electronic store gadgets seem to sprout out of nowhere like mushrooms. Every time you read a newspaper or magazine and watch the television, you are introduced to the latest and most advanced technological breakthrough on the face of the earth. Of the many gizmos and devices available on the market, one thing that TV addicts may want to consider investing on is the HDTV or High Definition Television.

This new device is a more enhanced version of digital television, or DTV. The resolution in HDTV is more defined and you will truly have a more cinematic experience with this type of television.

However, when buying HDTV, you need to insist on an integrated system because it is complete and you do not have to think about connecting tuner or receiver. With the integrated system, all you need is a satellite or cable connection.

If you do not have enough money, you can probably consider the HDTV-capable set. This is an HDTV monitor but you will need to find or buy an external receiver to enable you to watch an HDTV show or program. It is important to note that an HDTV without this external receiver is just like an ordinary television set. You will not be able to enjoy high definition images even if the monitor is HDTV without this add-on.

By the way, an HDTV ready is not necessarily an HDTV capable screen or monitor. Before buying this type of system, carefully ask your sales clerk if the set is actually an HDTV screen. Better yet, just stick with the HDTV integrated system or the HTV-capable set.

Since there are many brands of HDTV in the market, choosing one can really be daunting. To help you out with this task, read the buying guide below to know what features of HDTV to look for:

Audio

The most common type of sound system used in HDTVs is the Dolby Digital Surround. Some manufacturers, however, use other type of audio systems. The best way to determine which brand has the best sound is to try them out.

Connector Ports

The number of connector ports of HDTV varies tremendously from one brand to another. Thus, if you are buying an HDTV, or any other television sets, you need to see if the product has all the connector ports you need.

The usual connector ports that are being used are the Composite Video, RF, A/V, RCA, Component video, VGA and HDMI.

HD Receiver/Tuner

If you do not want any fuss, you should opt for a set that has an internal HD receiver or tuner. As mentioned earlier, this is the integrated system type of HDTV set. However, if your cable or satellite provider rents out or offers free external HD receiver, then you may want to buy the much cheaper HDTV capable set.

Resolution

One of the most important features that you need to look out for when buying an HDTV is the resolution. If the resolution of the HDTV set is poor, then there is really no reason why you have to buy that set because your old television set may have better resolution.

If you want fantastic resolution, be sure to look for a set that has a vertical resolution of 1080i and 720p. Standard television usually only has a vertical resolution of 480i. By the way, the “i” here stands for interlaced, which is the type of vertical resolution being used in analog TV, while the “p” is progressive, the usual choice for digital television sets.

Bob is the owner of Electronics DVD VCR Stereo website. Of the many gizmos and devices available on the market, one thing that TV addicts may want to consider investing on is the HDTV Television.

The Power of Plasma

In this highly technological civilization we can observe that although there are not much new things we can invent, there is a whole world of innovation from old technology to new. For instance, from huge computers that used to fill out whole buildings during the Second World War, the computer has downsized to a desktop, to an ultra thin notebook, and now even to a hand held.

We see the same pattern for mobile phone. Mobile phones used to be even larger than the largest land line phones, but now mobile phone models are ultra thin, ultra light and ultra compact. In fact, we see this downsizing trend among all major consumer technological gadgets.

This hold true also for digital cameras, MP3 players, portable gaming consoles and devices. Of course, we really think about it, this downsizing trend is actually brought about by a real need aside from novelty and aesthetics. Because consumers are acquiring more and more gadgets, gadgets are now made smaller so individuals can own several pieces of technology and still fit them into their purses, bags or pockets, all at one time.

However, with television the case is different. Television is the most popular consumer electronic gadget that has taken our lives by storm ever since it was introduced in the market. In this case though, small is not necessarily better because visual images are best viewed through large and wide screens for one to be able to have the best cinematic experience outside of the movie theater. To address the consumer need for downsizing as well as still being able to view large and wide screens, the plasma television was born.

Actually, plasma television has been around since the 1970s but the models then were a far cry from current models. In the past, plasma television was never really developed because of its cost. Now with better technology and with its popularity soaring, it’s price is decreasing while its value and substance is increasing.

What sets the plasma television apart form the ordinary “boob tube” is that it does not need the picture tube that regular TV sets do to be able to transmit images. Because it does not need the use of the picture tube, its bulk is greatly diminished, resulting in an ultra thin, hang on the wall type of screen. Yes, imagine a television set that you can literally just hang on the wall. One no longer need sacrifice visual delight or pleasure to save space.

The enhanced or high definition display panel of the plasma television comes from xenon and neon gas in plasma form that is triggered to excite phosphors within the display panel that result in vividly bright images. The plasma television not only boasts of ultra thin design but its large wide screens offer the widest viewing angle of all wide screen displays of LCDs.

While it is true that plasma televisions are at its brightest in its first 2000 hours of use, a plasma television can still last you from a decade to two, depending on usage. Although one may think that this is not such a good deal, remember that other television sets and displays turn lack luster too through time. It is also good to note at this point that plasma television technology is constantly evolving to provide consumers the best value for money.

Choosing the Proper Television Wall Mount

Advancements in flat screen television technology has progressed so much over the past few years. Because of this there really is no reason not to pick yourself out a flat screen television if you are thinking about getting a new TV. The quality of the picture has become very clear, which means that it does not matter what angle you look at the TV, you should be able to get the full effect of the TV from a wide variety of angles. Another benefit to flat screen televisions being readily available to consumers is that it has made it possible for you to mount your TV to your wall. Mounting your television to your wall is the perfect solution for rooms where you need more space for other items in your room.

Flat screen televisions are attached to the wall using special television wall mounts that can be purchased at many stores. Mounting your television to the wall is a great solution if you want to make sure your TV is securely fastened to the wall, provided you installed everything properly. Most of the wall mounts allow your television to be fixed to your wall securely. However, there are some more advanced wall mounting systems out there that allow for much more versatility when it comes to viewing the TV. There are swiveling wall mounts (they swivel left and right), tilting wall mounts (which tilt up and down), and articulating mounts (allow you to swivel your TV left and right, as well as tilt it up and down).

The most important thing that you will want to consider before you make your purchase of a wall mount, is to make sure that your mount is solid and that it can support the full weight of your television. The last thing you want is to improperly mount your beautiful (expensive) new flat screen television to the wall and risk allowing the television to fall to the ground and most likely break. Make sure that you inspect your wall mount thoroughly just to make sure that everything seems to have a high quality feel to it.

Make sure that you research different brands and make sure your wall mount is easy to assemble and hopefully install by yourself your by a professional. Once your wall mount is installed make sure it feels like it can hold the weight of the television and do not risk letting the precious television fall.

Choosing Your Television Wall Mount

Did you just buy a brand new flat screen television? If the answer is yes, you are probably in serious need of a television wall mount. If you want to get the full effect of your flat screen TV, it needs to be mounted to the wall. You have many different options of television wall mounts, and this article will highlight those different options, in hopes that it will help you make a decision on what television wall mount is right for you.

The first type of wall mount, is the most basic, however, that does not mean that it is not the right option for you. The flat wall mount does not offer the versatility of some of the other wall mounts. However, it does offer sturdiness and the security of knowing that your television wall mount is not going to fall to the ground. If you have a small room where your television is located this is probably the best option for you, not to mention the flat wall mount is not as expensive as some of the other wall mounts.

The second type of wall mount is the swiveling wall mount. This swiveling wall mount provides a bit more versatility than the flat mount. It allows you to swivel your television left or right. A great option for somebody who has a larger television room that has a few different options for where to sit and view the flat screen television.

The third option is the tilting wall mount. The tilting wall mount is a great option for a television that is located in a high position on your wall. If you have a seat in your room where you have to look up, this is a great option for you. Instead of sitting uncomfortably like you are in the front row of a movie theatre which can ruin your viewing experience. If you have this wall mount all you have to do is tilt it down and you will easily be able to watch your flat screen television.

The final option you have to choose from is the articulating wall mount. This is the most versatile and usually most expensive of the wall mounts. It allows you to tilt your television up and down and it also allows you to swivel it left and right. A great option if your television is located in a larger room because you have the versatility to watch the television pretty much wherever you want.

Plasma Or LCD - Whats the Main Advantages of a Good Plasma Like the Panasonic TH42PX80?

Here are some thoughts on the benefits of choosing a Plasma HDTV. It should be remembered that these are general statements and will vary between makes and models.

Black/Contrast Levels

One of the most important factors and certainly what the experts always check first is that of black levels. Generally black Levels have traditionally been best on Plasma screens primarily due to the way that the screens create contrasts - LCDs will alter crystals to block light whereas Plasmas modify the power to each pixel - as such Plasma screens are usually far more effective at displaying blacks. The gap between the best plasmas and LCDs has certainly narrowed recently with some of the best LCD screens from Sony, Samsung and Panasonic rival the top plasma screens for the depths of their blacks and contrasts.

Angle of Viewing

The first LCD screens were very poor in this respect - basically you had to sit within a pretty narrow band to view the TV properly. Plasma screens have a much wider viewing angle (up to 160 degrees). Again the gap between the two formats has reduced dramatically with most LCD screens have pretty good viewing angles however is this is of a primary concern for you then generally Plasma TVs have the advantage.

Color Displays

A much closer call and in essence the winner in this respect is probably down to individual preferences. Plasma screens contain individual blue, green and red pixels so have potentially have an advantage creating accurate color depth but the LCD screens have an advantage of creating colors by modifying light and as such produce a brighter, clearer display that many individuals prefer.

Brightness

This is where the LCD screen is a clear winner - LCD can produce white light much more easily than plasmas and utilize much less power in doing so. This can lead to white and bright scenes looking much crisper on an LCD.

This is a very brief summary - but again it should be remembered that a bad plasma screen would lose in all categories to a quality LCD. But the above points are worth bearing in mind before you make your purchase.

Joe Simpson - Technology Specialist and Film Buff

Likes these Plasma screens for great value and performance.

Plasma TV Technology - A Means of Bringing Life to Images

Thanks to the latest plasma TV technology, the prices of flat screen television have dropped in a dramatic fashion to say the least. Also thanks to guidelines issued by the government, broadcast programming will soon be in digital format and with the current mixture of TV technologies providing plasma TV technology, the are now ready for the final conversion from analog to digital.

Ever since the year 1964, the utilization of plasma monitors has enabled the initial dots of monochrome to be viewed on a monitor. In 1999, the first full colored plasma monitor was debuted and thanks to plasma TV technology the images being presented on the screens have just become sharper and more lifelike as the years progress onwards.

In today’s plasma TV technology you get the ability to view widescreen video on 4:3 ratio monitors, through the process of clipping the images. In this way, the viewer doesn’t see the total frame.

In television sets that were older, the picture ratio was 4:3; in contrast to what is shown in movie theaters of 13:9 and the whole image is able to be viewed on the screen. With the latest plasma TV technology, the images are broadcast or sent out in 13:9 ratio and the entire image is able to be presented and viewed on screen.

Nevertheless, a signal that is received in the 4:3 aspect ratio, is still capable of being viewed through the technology that is being used by today’s newer television sets. There are some of the older TV’s that would stretch the image at the top which would end up creating a distortion as it attempts to fill the whole screen while today’s newer monitors will utilize a correcting algorithm to calculate the biggest size of the image and then do a scaling of the overall image to then fit it to the available screen.

Constant Improvement Gives Brighter Viewing Entertainment

Through the use of plasma TV technology the images on screen are much sharper, clearer as well as more colorful than ever before. Nevertheless, regardless of the amount of quality of the plasma TV as well as the price that you paid for it, if the signal that is input is in the format of analog or only capable of being shown in enhanced video, there will be no discernible difference in the quality of the picture.

Even in the case of today’s satellite TV services, which is broadcasting all of the signals through high definition, if the program that is originating it is sent to the satellite services is not in the format of high definition, the signal that is eventually received in the home will have an odd resemblance to the older images that were in analog.

In spite of all of the high technology advances in plasma TV technology, in addition to the falling prices, numerous individuals are hesitant to welcome the high-end types of units because of the availability or lack thereof of high definition signals in some locations of the country.

One of the minor drawbacks with plasma TV technology is the sizes of the monitors that are available. The majority of manufacturers only make them to about the 42 inch screen range, which leaves the smaller size units to the LCD industry in the flat panel market.
